Why we started: A community's call
As business owners and parents with children in the Lawton Public School system, we witnessed firsthand the growing challenges facing our community. We saw homeless individuals affecting local businesses, leading to litter and a general decline in public spaces. More importantly, we recognized a significant lack of engaging recreational events for the youth of Lawton. These issues inspired us to create The Second Chance Foundation – a platform to address these concerns and bring about meaningful change.
Our vision: A brighter lawton
Through our dedicated work, The Second Chance Foundation aims to bring about significant positive change in Lawton. Our primary goals are to decrease the homeless population by providing support and opportunities, and to create more vibrant and engaging recreational events for the youth. We believe that by investing in our youth and supporting our most vulnerable, we can build a stronger, more connected, and more compassionate community for everyone.
Our unique approach: One hand washes the other
What makes our approach unique is our belief in the principle that "one hand washes the other." We design recreational events that not only provide positive outlets for youth but also directly benefit the homeless population. By engaging young people in activities that support their community's most vulnerable, we foster empathy, responsibility, and a sense of collective purpose. This symbiotic relationship ensures that every event has a dual impact, creating a cycle of support and growth within Lawton.
